Who we are

1Stop Direct is operated by CancerWith (特定非営利活動法人CancerWith), a "specified nonprofit corporation" (認定NPO類型の特定非営利活動法人) established in Japan on 27 September 2023. Our legal registration is public on the Japan Cabinet Office NPO Portal (organization ID 110000349). The representative director is Atsushi Nitasaka, whose own family member is a cancer patient — the experience that led to founding this activity.

Our mission

We provide unbiased, public-benefit information and decision support — not advice or agency services — to people living with serious illness and their families who face difficult life decisions, including whether and how to live abroad. Moving countries while managing an illness raises questions that healthy travellers rarely face: continuity of treatment, health insurance, residence status, family and children, finances, and the decision of when to return home. Our role is to help people organize these questions and reach their own decisions.

What we do — and what we do not do

  • We publish original, in-depth information articles (over 190) referenced to official primary sources, plus first-hand experience notes.
  • We help people structure their own decisions through neutral information and dialogue.
  • We do not sell products or services, and we take no fees, commissions, or referral payments.
  • We do not provide medical, legal, or immigration-agency services, and we do not recommend specific vendors.
  • We are not a medical institution; all treatment decisions must be made with the patient's own physician.

Governance & transparency

CancerWith is governed by a nine-member board (including an oncologist who serves as medical advisor) and an independent auditor. Decisions are made through the general meeting and the board of directors. We publish annual activity and financial reports (FY2023, FY2024) and disclose our leadership and major partnerships. Not-for-profit

This site exists for a public-benefit purpose, not a commercial one. It hosts no third-party advertising and no affiliate links. The only transaction available on the site is a voluntary charitable donation, which is used solely to sustain the organization's public-benefit activities; no individual receives dividends or profit.
